The Economy of Cambodia
Due to the 4 years of the Khmer Rouge's destructive rule, Cambodia's economy is very poor. Cambodia earns most of it's money from logging, farming, and food processing. Most Cambodian farmers are subsistence farmers. This means that they only plant enough food to keep their families alive. People can find jobs in the city or towns, but the wages are very low. Food shortages occur commonly in rural areas, and social oppurtunites are found only in urban areas. Cambodia's wealthy class is very small.
