Housing
Rural Homes: About 80% of Cambodia's population lives in rural housing. The traditional rural houses are the stilt homes, which are raised houses made of wood. The roofs are mainly constructed out of clay, dried leaves, or wood. These houses are raised due to the deforestation of the country. The deforestation of Cambodia has raised the possibility of mud slides. So if everyone's house is raised off of the ground, they are at less risk of home damage. These rural homes have a seperate hut for cooking. The whole family sleeps in the living room and eats at a bamboo table.

Urban Homes: The other 20% of Cambodia's population lives in urban areas. There are different class levels in the city. The wealthier Cambodians live in colonial mansions, which are very authentic homes that consist of many rooms. Middle-class Cambodians live in small apartment complexes, and the poor urban dwellers reside in slum areas, which are very dirty and usually filled with trash.
